Use a paper cup to make a sound like a turkey!
This is an example of a sounding board - the cup makes the sound of the vibrations from the wool much louder. Pianos and music boxes use wood as sounding boards to make their sounds louder too.
Materials
You will need:
A paper cup
A paper clip
A cotton pad
Wool
Feathers
Stickers
How to create a clucking turkey
Use a pen to make a hole in the base of the paper cup, then thread the wool through the hole
Tie the wool to the paper cup, fixing it in place
Decorate your paper cup with feathers and stickers to make it look like a turkey
Dampen the cotton pad then hold tight around the wool.
Pull down in a short, jumping motions and listen for the "clucks"!
Well Done! You have made a sounding board! Can you use materials in your home to make another sounding board and different sounds?
What happens if the cup is bigger or smaller? Why not find out by using a yoghurt pot to create a new clucking bird?!
